Hotel Silber WebApp

In 2020, the existing audio guide app was revised in terms of content and technology to make it usable outside of Hotel Silber. Therefore, the previous programming was translated into a web app. The target groups here are primarily school classes and members of risk groups for whom a visit is difficult or impossible in the current situation. In addition, it is also possible for visitors on site to stream all content via the in-house WLAN and their own devices and headphones (the same is also possible outside - at home or in schools or via mobile data). Through this extension of the original native app, it is now possible for the "Hotel Silber" to avoid direct contact with visitors in terms of infection control and to avoid the risk of providing them with rental devices that may not be fully disinfected.

The expansion of the original app could also be used to make the app more accessible. The future possibility of using the entire digital offer from home and any other location as well as on one's own device in the museum will make it possible for additional target groups to visit the museum. For this purpose, a choice of location has been created (on site/at home), which results in an adaptation of the offer contained. Visitors outside the museum are now provided with a floor plan as well as photos, documents and videos from the exhibition, which are referred to in the audio texts. This makes it possible for visitors to "move around" the building virtually. Similarly, during the necessary programming of a CMS for the app extension, the possibility was created to deposit texts for blind and visually impaired visitors by means of alt tags, by means of which barriers are also reduced at this point. The exhibition can now also be used by hearing-impaired users and those with lower reading skills by providing simplified reading texts.
